Frequently Asked Questions
Real answers to the stuff people actually ask us. No fluff.
How do I crop an image into a circle shape?
This is probably our most-used feature. Head to the Circle Crop page, drop your image in, and drag it around until your subject is centered in the circle. Use the zoom slider to get the framing right, then hit download. You'll get a PNG with a transparent background — ready to use anywhere. No account needed, no sign-up wall, nothing like that. The whole thing takes maybe 30 seconds.
Can I create profile pictures using ImageFixr?
This is what most people use us for. The circle crop suits LinkedIn, Instagram, Discord, and Slack — anywhere that shows a round avatar. We also have hearts, stars, hexagons, and other shapes if you want to get creative. Some people use the star crop for gaming profiles, which we didn't expect but it makes sense.
What image formats does ImageFixr support?
We support pretty much everything you'd throw at us: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (we'll use the first frame), BMP, TIFF, and even SVG. Everything exports as a high-quality PNG with transparency. Max upload size is 15MB, which should cover most use cases. If you're working with really large images, just make sure your source is at least 800x800px for the best results.
Is ImageFixr completely free to use?
It's 100% free. No "free tier with limits," no watermarks, no per-image credits, no surprise paywall after three uses. We built ImageFixr as a set of tools we wanted to exist, and decided to keep them free. There's no premium plan hiding behind a button somewhere.
How can I make a heart-shaped image for Valentine's Day?
The Heart Shape tool is straightforward — upload your photo, position it inside the heart frame, zoom to get the crop you want, and download. You get a transparent PNG, so it works on any background. Usage spikes around Valentine's Day, but it stays steady year-round for cards, social posts, and photo gifts.
Can I create manga or comic-style images from my photos?
The manga converter is one of our more fun tools. It uses a neural network that runs right in your browser to transform your photos into manga/comic-style artwork. Fair warning — it works best on clear, well-lit photos, especially portraits. Dark or blurry source images tend to produce muddy results. But when you give it a good input, the output is genuinely cool.
How do I create a hexagon-shaped image for my design?
Go to the Geometric Shapes tool, upload your image, pick the hexagon option, and position your photo inside the frame. Download and you're done. We also have triangles, pentagons, octagons, and a bunch of other polygon shapes if hexagons aren't your thing. These are popular with designers making grid layouts and mood boards.
Does ImageFixr work on mobile devices?
It does! Everything is fully responsive — circle crop, background removal, shape tools, all of it works on your phone or tablet. The touch controls for dragging and zooming actually feel pretty natural on mobile. You don't need to download any app, just open the site in your phone's browser and go.
Do you keep or store the images I upload?
This is a big one for us. We don't store anything. Period. All processing happens in your browser — your images literally never leave your device. There's no server upload, no temporary cloud storage, no analytics on your images. When you close the tab, it's gone. We built it this way on purpose because we think that's how image tools should work.
Can I use ImageFixr for commercial projects?
Go for it. No restrictions at all — personal, commercial, client work, resale, whatever you need. The output is yours. We don't add watermarks, we don't require attribution, and there's no licensing fine print. If you made the source image, you own what comes out.
How does ImageFixr compare to Photoshop or Canva for cropping?
They solve different problems. Photoshop is incredibly powerful but it's a $20/month subscription with a steep learning curve — overkill if you just need to crop a circle or remove a background. Canva is easier but it uploads your images to their servers, which some people aren't comfortable with. ImageFixr is built for speed: open the page, drop your image, get your result, done. Everything stays in your browser. For quick cropping and background removal, it's genuinely faster than either.
Can I use ImageFixr on my phone?
It works in any modern mobile browser — Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android, whatever you have. Every tool comes with touch controls for positioning and zooming, and there's no app to install. Open the site on your phone and start editing. We use it on our own phones regularly when we need a quick crop on the go.
What happens to my images after I upload them?
Short answer: nothing, because they never leave your device. We use on-device processing — neural networks and canvas APIs that run right in your browser. There's no server involved. No cloud. No "we temporarily store your image for processing" nonsense. Your photos stay on your machine the entire time. This is a deliberate design choice, not a limitation.
Does ImageFixr work offline?
Mostly yes, with a caveat. You need an internet connection the first time to load the app and the AI models. But once everything's loaded in your browser tab, most tools will keep working even if your connection drops. If you refresh the page or navigate away, you'll need internet again to reload. So it's not a true offline app, but it's close once it's loaded.
